Team Chat

Team Chat is built-in, real-time messaging inside Loop so your team can talk without leaving the app. It is a premium feature gated by the "Team Chat" plan limit. If your plan does not include it, you will see an upgrade prompt instead of the chat surface.

Open chat

Click the Chat icon in the top bar, or the Chat item in the sidebar. This opens the global Chat page, with a channel sidebar on the left and the open conversation on the right.

Channel types

  • Account channel: one per account, named "General" or after your company. Everyone in your account is automatically a member, so it is the place for company-wide announcements and chat.
  • Channels (custom): team channels you create for a topic or group. You add and remove members, and you can rename a channel, give it a description, and archive it when it is no longer needed.
  • Direct messages: private 1:1 conversations with another teammate. For three or more people, create a custom channel instead.
  • Campaign Team Space: every campaign has its own channel for the people working on it. See Campaigns for more.

Send messages

Type your message and press Enter to send. Use Shift+Enter for a new line. Messages appear in real time for everyone in the channel, so a conversation keeps flowing without refreshing.

Mentions, tags, and emoji

While typing, use these triggers:

  • @ mentions a teammate. Start typing a name and pick from the search results. In a campaign channel, the person you mention also gets an email notification.
  • # links another channel, so people can jump straight to it.
  • $ attaches a campaign file. This is available in campaign channels only.
  • The emoji picker lets you add an emoji to any message.

Edit and delete

Hover over one of your own messages to edit or delete it. Edited messages show an "edited" label so the change is clear, and a deleted message leaves a small placeholder in its place.

Unread and typing

  • Channels with new activity show an unread badge so nothing slips by.
  • An "Unread messages" divider marks where you left off when you open a channel.
  • You can see when someone is typing a reply.

Channel members

Click the member-count badge in the channel header to open a side panel. It lists everyone in the channel with their avatar, name, and email, and includes a filter box so you can find a specific person fast.

Find and organize

  • Search the sidebar by name to jump to a channel, direct message, or campaign.
  • Collapse the sidebar for more room when you are focused on one conversation.

Who can use chat

  • Team Chat must be enabled on your plan. If it is not, you will see an upgrade prompt. See Plans, seats & billing.
  • Creating and managing channels needs Full Access or the Chat permission group. Adding or removing members and renaming or archiving a channel are part of that.
  • Account and campaign channels resolve their membership automatically, so you do not manage members there by hand.
